Birth Trauma Therapy and Recovery

Over 30,000 of us would describe experiencing trauma during conceiving, pregnancy, a difficult birth or breastfeeding journey.

The important thing for you to know is that trauma looks different for everyone. If you had a healthy baby and you were healthy after birth, we are led to believe that is enough. This is not the case however we recognise having a healthy baby is without question important but how about our mental health?

Antenatal, Birth and Postnatal Trauma was recognised in the 2014 Nice Guideline Revision, so there is recognition there but we have a long way to go!

Trauma can go on to affect your emotional and mental wellbeing, your relationships and even bonding with your new baby.

I am trained to work with a particular process to help with perinatal & birth trauma and have helped numerous individuals and couples to overcome the feelings of disappointment, failure, shock and emotional anguish. Whether your experience or event was one year ago or six years ago, the changes to your emotional wellbeing will be incredible. Contact me to learn more

You May be Feeling or Experiencing;

  • The inability to talk back through your experience with ease.

  • Distress when thinking back to the experience.

  • Deep fear should you be pregnant again and having to face it.

  • Flashbacks in the form of still or moving images.

  • A deep sadness or anger surrounding the experience.

  • Guilt and a sense of having been out of control.

An Unplanned Cesarean Birth;

We take so much time and energy preparing for birth and when it doesnt turn out how we planned it can hurt really badly. I work with many mothers who have gone through an emergency C-Section and felt very saddened, guility and upset by it. You may be feeling all or some of the above. Just know that you can feel better and should still be so proud of yourself. You have given birth to a whole new person!

I was unable to discuss the birth with my partner, we never looked at the birth pictures together and no-one ever asked if i felt ok about what happened.
This process, even six years on has been a huge release for me and for us. After the rewind therapy with you, i cried and cried. I even talked about how i felt with my partner and my mum. I feel healed, lighter and ready to move on. Thank you Claire!

“You offered me a safe space for me to express my hurt, shock and disappointment around my first birth. Having held onto it for over two years. I now feel able to bond with my little boy following our sessions together”

Recovery Process & Fee

This recovery process seeks relief of PTSD symptoms from a pregnancy, a previous birth or a traumatic event. You are safe with me and can cry, feel angry, sad as we work through this together.

The 3 Step Rewind is a gentle and hugely effective process originating from neuro linguistic programming (NLP) It can gently help shift the heavy or unhelpful emotions and feelings that could be attached to your past experience.

In Person - sessions take place in a private, safe environment away from disturbances and last 60-90 minutes each.

Online - you can be anywhere in the world and receive the same gentle guided support from me online. If you are in North London you are invited into my home where you will be comfortable.

If you need to talk, book in a call with me.

Breaking down the sessions;

  1. Telling your story (should you wish to, you dont have to) and understanding the changes you would like to experience when the feelings are lifted. I will softly guide you through this. The opportunity to talk to someone is wonderful and i ask that you prepare to tell me how you would like to feel once your symptoms are changed.

    *You should allow one hour for this session.

  2. We will come back together and find out how you are feeling following the first session with me. I will then take you through a deeply guided relaxation, allowing you to remember and recall the event or experience in the way it happened and as you have recalled it, you will feel safe and secure with me being there either in person or online with you. This is where we are asking the brain to do all the work to find and release the difficult memories. This is very healing and emotional but the results are incredible.

    *You should allow one hour to 90 minutes for this session.

  3. We will come back together for what could be the last time and go over how you felt post session two and repeat the guided release lightly together.

    *You should allow one hour for this session.

The Fee £250.00

(without private midwife debrief)

Should you choose to invest in your emotional recovery, there will be three private sessions with me either online via zoom or in person at your home or my home in Enfield. Each session will be around one hour maybe slightly more.

The fee of £250.00 payable on confirmation or can be split into separate payments. An invoice will be sent to you along with a form to complete.

My availablility is flexible, whether you need weekdays, evenings and weekends I can make this work for you.
