Tutum’s Story

The founder of Tutum Birthing, friendly and accessible with blonde hair tied back, wearing a pink corduroy button-up shirt, sitting against a light background.

I started ‘Tutum Birthing’ after reflecting on our own birth experiences with our two girls. The births were very different but how I felt was the same and I put this down to preparing with hypnobirthing.  Our journey into parenthood was calm, we felt prepared and I therefore loved birth.  I am so pleased to be sharing my knowledge with you.

I strongly had a need to reassure and empower parents-to-be so they felt more confident, more able and excited to give birth.  I would send private messages to parents reassuring them that how they felt was ‘normal’ I would sit up just to send that one last message of support.

It was clear to me that I needed to change the direction of my career. I was a creative in high end interiors and had a great job but it didn’t fulfil my desire, it didn’t give me personal satisfaction.  When Rosie was born and around six months later, the idea of Tutum followed.

Claire’s pregnancy with Flora & Hypnobirthing being a game changer.

This is where it all started! I had no idea i would feel so overwhelmed and nervous mixed with excited when we fell pregnant first time. I loved my pregnancy and was able to enjoy it when we discovered hypnobirthing. It was a total game changer, i felt strong, able and determined to be calm and not have a panic attack! Hypnobirthing definitely allowed for that.

Flora’s Birth Story

Wow, we thought this cannot be the real thing, the realisation that labour was maybe beginning was both scary and the most exctiing thing we had ever gone through together! Floras labour was 9 hours long and went through the typical stages of labour.

Rosie’s Birth Story

Little Rosie is a firecracker! She has energy unlike the rest of us, this was her birth! Rosies labour began at 2.15pm and she was with us at 6.15pm. My labour was quick and powerful. Rosie was born vaginally in the labour ward at The Whittington Hospital, a great weight and fed instantly. Two different experiences but both equally beautiful.

Retrained as a Hypnobirthing Practitioner.

I knew i wanted to work with new mothers and parents. I loved all the reading and research i did during our pregnancies so when it was time to return to work after my second mat leave, it felt all wrong. I looked into retraining and in October 2016 i retrained in the orginal program we used with Flora, to teach hypnobirthing and havent looked back since.

The Launch of Tutum Birthing.

January 2017 saw the launch of Tutum Birthing! I was so happy with this fire in my belly to better the education parents were receiving. My love is to support and empower parents. This continues to be my love!
