Trust in Your Body to Birth Your Baby.

One of the many conversations i have with parents during pregancy is; why dont we have confidence and trust in ourselves and in our bodies when it comes to birthing our babies? We should feel strong, able and determined to bring our babies into this world with the inner power that we have so, why dont we feel like that?

I feel it is because, we are conditioned to feel that birth is a scary act and something we should be fearful of. Something which will take us to our farthest point of pain and something we simply cannot cope with. Let me tell you, we have been birthing for millions of years so why is it we still can’t see how powerful and innate the act of birth can be? How are you feeling about birth? Are you feeling strong or scared to even think of going through it?

We can easily seek out difficult birth stories from family members and friends who have not had a good birth however, we can also actively seek out those births which are empowering and strong. We dont think about our body not making a leg for our baby as this is something we trust in - it is a a natural process.

Have you been told scary stories about birth? Have you ever asked how you were born? These all count towards our minds storing this fear and when the time comes for us to have a baby, it all comes out! We feel anxious, unable, excited but as if there is no way we will be able to do it. It is important to trust in the power of your uterus and have confidence in your body's ability to give birth. Surround yourself with supportive people who believe in you and your abilities.

Remember that every woman's birth experience is unique, and there is no right or wrong way to give birth. Trust in your body and know that you are capable of amazing things.
