Newborn Lactation Consultation

Home Visits in Enfield, Barnet and Surrounding Areas.

Supporting you with Breastfeeding.

Arriving home soon after birth can feel exciting and scary. The hospital was busy and a midwife may have shown you breastfeeding, but leaving and being at home you might feel nervous, emotional, and unsure what to do. Worrying if your baby is feeding enough is common and if you are experiencing pain when feeding it can feel really difficult.

Having a private breastfeeding session where you have dedicated time together with me, working calmly on good attachment, comfortable positioning and building up your confidence.

I Can Help You:

  • Settle into your home and help you set up your breastfeeding spaces.

  • Help you to more comfortably if you have nipple pain and help you to heal.

  • Attach your baby correctly in order for the milk to transfer well and baby to gain weight.

  • Learn and adopt new positions for breastfeeding based on you and your baby.

  • Manage your expectations around having a newborn and wake windows.

  • Understand ways to extend babies feeds from snacking to full feeds.

  • Increase your milk supply if required

  • Settle anxiety you might be feeling post birth.

  • Feel more condfident with newborn baby care.

  • Answer general questions you might have.

“Claire came to visit when our little girl was 3 days old. My milk had just come in and it all felt incredibly overwhelming, it felt like i was failing. We had days of constant crying and my nipples were blistered and sore. If she hadnt have come that day, I would have definitely not carried on. Her advice, calmness and guidance was so valuable’’ Katya

The Importance of Support.

If it is your intention to breastfeed, Early support is so important to starting your feeding journey in the best way, being able to stay calm and understand what you all need. When i visit your home, we will create a calm space for you and your baby as you learn to breastfeed together. If this is your first baby, you may have done some reading or taken a feeding class antenatally but nothing can help more then having a breastfeeding consultant there with you when you are physically holding your baby.

A session with me will help to reassure you and start you on your journey to a more calm and confident breastfeed with your baby, ultimately leading to more calm and fulfilling experience.
