Chloe’s Birth Story

This is Chloe’s second birth. They had planned a home birth for their first baby and were transferred. We worked together to prepare them again for labour and they really wanted their home birth! Read on to hear how the birth went!

Chloe Say’s ‘‘I’d started with some pressure type feelings in the afternoon of the Friday 22nd December, but they didn’t feel anything like my contractions with Alfie, and I hadn’t had a show or any other signs, so I didn’t think this was “it”.

As the afternoon / evening went on I noticed them becoming more regular and a bit more intense, but it was all very relaxed and we went about life as normal as I really wasn’t convinced they were anything. By the time I lay on my side to sleep that night they had become really intense and then I thought OK.

I Had a shower and washed my hair at midnight as I was so hot, then just got cosy in our bedroom, candles lit, music on and I was just rocking back and forth, hip circling, standing, leaning over the sink - all much more comfortable than lying down! I dozed a little bit, but was mainly moving around and was breathing sooo heavily in and out with each surge, just trying to get through each one. Was sniffing a lot of lavender on a handkerchief!

We called the midwife to come to us at around 5.30am (i had already messaged my named midwife and luckily she was on call which we were so happy about) and she arrived about 6.45am, at which point Alfie was getting up, so Oscar was sorting him and I just carried on, the Midwife barely spoke to me which was great!

My waters broke and had my show whilst I was standing, leaning against the wall, - both of which so different and more forceful to last time. My parents picked Alfie up so Oscar was back with me by 7.30am, the second Midwife arrived at 8am and then I had this overwhelming feeling that I needed to get on the floor and I let out this big groan that took me by surprise! (I hadn’t made a single noise up to this point) and then she said he was coming, and I felt his head out and then so quickly the rest of him! That stage was 3 mins in total! And then, there he was!

The worst bit was the stitching, it was only one small tear but gosh it did hurt, and the contractions after too, I don’t remember those with Alfie! We were shell shocked for the rest of the day hehe!

Thank you so much again for the wonderful support you gave us!! ♥️♥️
